Dynamic Stereo X-ray (DSX) Suite™

The most powerful and advanced set of tools available for creating 3D visualizations and posing biplanar radiographic images. (so-called double fluoroscopy)

DSX is software for fast, robust and reliable bone or implant position estimation from a sequence of radiographic images with minimal operator intervention. The application suite enables the processing of X-ray data from collection through analysis and reporting.

The X4D tool tracks bones and implants during X-ray trials using single-frame or 4D optimization. The DSX algorithm resolves 3D pose by capturing two non-coplanar bone X-rays on two digitally reconstructed radiographs (DRR).

Visual3D has been extended with direct integration with X4D. Surface models and associated datums and regions of interest are loaded for additional kinematics processing and reporting.

To match the DRR images with the X-ray images, both sets of images are first processed. The X-ray images are smoothed with a convolutional filter and then an edge detection algorithm is performed on them. The final processed X-ray image used for tracking is the edge detection image multiplied by the weighting factor plus the smoothed intensity image. DRR images are not smoothed, but are fed into the edge detection algorithm. The final processed DRR image is the edge detection image time and weighting factor plus the original DRR image.
