C-Pen Exam Reader 2 is a portable printed-text reader designed for students who require additional reading support during lessons, tests, and examinations. The device scans a selected word, sentence, or text passage and then reads it aloud using its built-in text-to-speech engine.
The reader works completely offline and does not require an Internet connection, computer, or additional application. Its closed system design and lack of functionality for storing personalised materials make it suitable for use in examination environments, subject to local examination regulations.
C-Pen Exam Reader 2 – Scanning Text Reader for Learning and Exams
C-Pen Exam Reader 2 supports people who experience difficulties with fluent reading and text comprehension, including students with dyslexia. Simply move the scanning tip across printed text, and the content will be recognised using OCR — Optical Character Recognition — and read aloud.
The device allows students to independently access instructions, examination questions, and educational materials. This can reduce the need for assistance from a human reader and may allow the student to remain in the same room as other examination candidates.
C-Pen Exam Reader 2 is a fully standalone device. All voices, text-recognition functions, and interface components are stored directly in the reader’s memory. No Wi-Fi connection, smartphone, computer, or cloud service is required.
The closed system does not allow users to enter or store personal notes, prompts, or other customised materials. The device therefore provides reading support only, without offering functions that could give the user answers or additional information.
The reader includes a built-in speaker and a standard 3.5 mm headphone socket. The supplied headphones allow the device to be used discreetly without disturbing other people in the classroom or examination room. The interface can also be operated with spoken menu prompts.
Its lightweight design, weight of only 50 g, and rechargeable battery intended for all-day use make C-Pen Exam Reader 2 easy to carry to school, additional classes, or examinations.
