TYREX K-REX SATELLITE – Compact USB Drive Decontamination Station
The TYREX K-REX SATELLITE is a compact USB drive decontamination station designed to scan and sanitize USB drives and other removable media before allowing them into protected IT or OT infrastructure.
The SATELLITE model is designed for locations where space is limited. The device can be wall-mounted and is particularly suitable for environments such as ships, technical rooms, conference rooms, server rooms, and infrastructure access control points.
The station can simultaneously utilize five antivirus engines and two antimalware engines, enabling detection of both known threats and more advanced forms of malware and APTs (Advanced Persistent Threats). The manufacturer also offers protection against BadUSB attacks.
The device can operate as a standalone station or as part of a larger TYREX environment centrally managed via the TYREX Management Server.
Software Required for Operation
Basic operation of the K-REX SATELLITE does not require installing additional software on an external computer. The manufacturer describes the solution as Plug & Play – the devices are factory-configured and have their own system environment.
Built-in software:
KUBIAN OS – the station's operating system,
system base: Debian Bullseye,
antivirus and anti-malware engines,
malware detection mechanisms, APT and BadUSB,
reporting, logging, and security policy management modules.
Optionally, the solution can be expanded with:
TYREX Management Server – central management of stations, configuration, users, and security policies,
Management Server available as SaaS,
Dedicated SaaS,
On-Premise,
Offline / Air Gap,
operated via a web browser without the need to install a local administration client. TYREX Workstation Protect Agent – an optional agent for Windows and Linux computers.
The agent checks whether the connected media has been previously verified by the TYREX workstation.
It can partially or completely block access to unauthorized media.
It can operate in an online or offline environment.
Applications
The K-REX SATELLITE is primarily intended for locations requiring controlled access to removable media but lacking space for a larger standalone station.
Typical applications:
ships and marine units,
shipbuilding industry,
offshore platforms,
critical infrastructure,
OT and ICS environments,
