Light Switches
Industrial and Medical Switches
E-Readers
Gaming Controllers
Similar to a capacitive touch sensor, GestIC technology uses an electric field sensor to detect gestures. The electrodes are invisible behind the device casing, allowing for an aesthetically pleasing user interface design without the need for holes or other cutouts that are typically required for cameras or infrared-based systems.
Benefits:
Single-chip gesture solution for embedded applications
Sensing range from 0 (touch) to 20 cm
Very energy-efficient design
No detection blind spots
No environmental influences (light/sound)
Use of thin, inexpensive sensing electrodes, such as a standard PCB
Highest gesture detection reliability
Active noise handling
44-100 kHz carrier frequency; no RF interference
The unique feature of GestIC technology is that it enables on-chip gesture recognition without additional processing, allowing for easy creation of efficient user interfaces and faster time-to-market. The integrated Colibri Gesture Suite uses a Hidden Markov Model (HMM) gesture recognition engine that can detect subtle differences in time, amplitude, and other parameters to ensure high recognition rates of intentional hand gestures while reducing reactions to general hand movements and unintentional gestures.
Models:
- MGC3030 / MGC3130
MGC3030/MGC3130 contain all the building blocks needed to develop robust 3D gesture sensing systems. Implemented as a low-power, mixed-mode, configurable controller, they provide a large set of intelligent features, including an integrated signal driver, an adaptive frequency input path for automatic noise suppression, and a digital signal processing (DSP) unit.
Key Features:
Recognition of 3D hand gestures
Position tracking (MGC3130 only)
Proximity and touch sensing
Five receive (Rx) channels
One transmit (Tx) channel
Built-in Colibri Gesture Suite
I2C interface for configuration and sensor output streaming
Detection Range: 0 to 20 cm
Resolution: 200 dpi
Packages:
-MGC3030: 28-pin 7.80 × 10.50 mm SSOP
-MGC3130: 28-pin 5 × 5 mm QFN
Operating Temperature Range: −20°C to 85°C
- MGC3140
Focused on enabling robust user interfaces for automotive applications, the MGC3140 builds on the first generation MGC3030/MGC3130 controllers to also feature AEC-Q100 Grade 1 qualification and extended operating temperature range. It is also suitable for a variety of consumer and industrial applications.
