The MindRove Legband is a wireless, wearable system for measuring EMG (Electromyography), or electrical muscle activity.
The device is primarily designed for measuring lower limb muscles.
The band can be worn on the calf or thigh.
The system utilizes 8 EMG measurement channels and 2 additional electrodes.
The electrodes are evenly distributed around the circumference of the band.

The system utilizes 8 EMG measurement channels and 2 additional electrodes.
The electrodes are evenly distributed around the circumference of the band.
Dry stainless steel electrodes are used, eliminating the need for conductive gel during standard use.
The Legband provides access to raw EMG data, allowing the user to independently analyze and process the signal.
The device has a built-in 6-axis IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) motion sensor, consisting of a 3-axis accelerometer and a 3-axis gyroscope.
Data from the motion sensors is also available in raw form.
Data is transmitted wirelessly between the device and a computer via Wi-Fi. The band's design is adjustable and allows for a custom fit on either the calf or thigh. The device weighs approximately 100 g.
The Legband is intended for gait analysis, rehabilitation studies, sports science, and other research applications.

Software Required for Operation
For standard device use, the manufacturer provides the MindRove Connect application.
MindRove Connect enables:
- viewing EMG data in real time,
- data recording,
- working with a single MindRove device,
- working with devices connected via MindRove SyncBox.
MindRove Connect is currently available for Windows and macOS.
The manufacturer provides the application directly in its download center.
MindRove SDK
For research, development, and integration of Legband with proprietary software, the manufacturer provides the MindRove SDK (Software Development Kit).
The SDK allows for direct acquisition and processing of data from MindRove devices.
Supported operating systems declared for Legband:
- Windows,
- macOS,
- Linux.
Supported languages and environments:
- C++,
- C#,
- Python,
- MATLAB.
The SDK includes functions related to data acquisition and signal processing. The data acquisition API is standardized across supported MindRove devices, allowing you to create your own applications that leverage device data. The Python SDK can be installed as a mindrove package. The manufacturer provides documentation, code examples, and APIs for supported languages.
Integration with Other Systems
Legband supports Lab Streaming Layer (LSL).
LSL enables real-time transmission of measurement data to other compatible research applications.
This allows EMG to be combined with other data sources in experiments requiring synchronization of multiple biosignal streams.
The optional MindRove SyncBox allows synchronization of up to four MindRove devices, including EEG and EMG devices.
The SyncBox also supports 3.3 V trigger signals, enabling synchronization with devices from other manufacturers.
Important Information Regarding Older Software
Older MindRove materials include the Visualizer on Desktop application.
The manufacturer currently marks it as deprecated.
Visualizer on Desktop is not compatible with devices received after May 5, 2025.
For newer devices, please use MindRove Connect or the MindRove SDK.
