XanderGlasses

XanderGlasses are specialized glasses that support communication for people with hearing loss, profound hearing loss, or difficulty understanding speech. Built-in microphones record speech, software converts speech to text, and semi-transparent subtitles are displayed directly in the wearer's field of vision. Only the wearer can see the subtitles. The device can complement hearing aids or cochlear implants, but it is not a hearing aid and does not amplify sound.

The solution is primarily intended for face-to-face conversations, meetings, medical appointments, educational activities, work, and situations where noise or echo make speech intelligible. Displaying text in front of the eyes allows users to focus on the speaker instead of the phone screen.

XanderGlasses I – XG I: The first generation, based on the Vuzix Shield glasses. All speech recognition occurred directly within the glasses. This model featured two noise-canceling microphones and provided approximately 2.5–3 hours of continuous subtitle display. The original price was $4,999. The manufacturer reports that the first generation is sold out.

XanderGlasses II – XG II: This is the announced second generation, which the manufacturer plans to resume sales in August 2026. The set is priced at $2,999. This model is said to be 55% lighter than the XG I, offer four microphones, replaceable batteries, and offline translation between 15 languages.

XanderGlasses Connect: A variant of this name was presented at CES 2025, featuring cloud features, call recording, and translation, among other features. However, it is not currently available from the manufacturer.

Disadvantages and limitations
No confirmed Polish language support. High price: $2,999 for the XG II, excluding shipping, taxes, VAT, and import handling.
Limited availability: At the time of review, the XG II was not yet widely available, and sales were focused on the US market.
Additional XG II device: The second generation does not process everything exclusively in the frames; the user must carry a computing module.
Noise impact: Quiet speech, simultaneous conversations, reverberation, and noise can reduce the accuracy of captions. The manufacturer recommends using a wireless microphone in such situations.
The claimed 97% accuracy is based on a quiet environment: do not expect the same results in a restaurant, hall, lecture hall, or group conversation.
No complete published specifications for the XG II: exact weight, resolution, brightness, field of view, battery capacity, or water resistance rating are unknown.
Limitations of prescription lenses: The glasses are not over-the-glasses. The manufacturer primarily supports single-vision correction for distance vision; Progressive lenses, bifocals, and some prescription combinations may be incompatible.
Do not use while driving: reading subtitles distracts your attention from the road.
The first generation was not water-resistant: the XG I manual prohibits exposure to moisture and specifies an operating temperature of 0 to 40°C. The manufacturer has not yet specified an equivalent resistance class for the XG II.
Adaptation period: The user must learn to simultaneously observe the interlocutor and read text appearing in their field of vision.
