EMOTIV FLEX 2 Saline – 32-Channel Wireless EEG System

The EMOTIV FLEX 2 Saline is an advanced, wireless EEG (Electroencephalography) system designed for scientific research, neurophysiological experiments, and the recording of brain electrical activity. The system utilizes up to 32 Ag/AgCl (silver/silver chloride) recording electrodes with felt elements wetted with saline solution, eliminating the need for traditional conductive gel.

The flexible FLEX cap has 74 holes corresponding to the standard locations of the international 10–20 system, allowing for the individual placement of up to 32 measurement electrodes and two CMS/DRL reference electrodes. This allows for customization of the device configuration to a specific research protocol.

The Saline electrodes can be rehydrated during the study through a special opening in the sensor. This allows for maintaining proper electrode-skin contact without removing the cap. The quality of contact between individual electrodes can be monitored in real time using the EmotivPRO software.

Wireless data transmission, a built-in 9-axis motion sensor, and the ability to freely position the electrodes make the FLEX 2 Saline suitable for both traditional laboratory studies and studies conducted in more natural settings.

Software Required for Operation

EMOTIV Launcher – an application used to install, run, and manage the EMOTIV software.
EmotivPRO – the basic software designed to work with FLEX 2 for EEG applications; it allows viewing of EEG signals, checking the quality of electrode contacts, data recording, and analysis.
EmotivPRO Lite – according to the current product page, is available with the purchase of FLEX 2; it allows viewing of raw EEG, movement data, and frequency bands, among other things, but has significant limitations regarding the number of recordings and data export.
Paid EmotivPRO license – required for research applications requiring full recording and export of raw EEG data, including to CSV or EDF formats.
Cortex SDK / Emotiv API – optional, for integrating FLEX 2 with custom software, BCI applications, or research environments. Access to raw EEG data via the API is subject to additional EMOTIV licensing requirements.
