Bittium BrainStatus

Bittium BrainStatus™ is a compact, wireless EEG (Electroencephalography) system designed for real-time monitoring of brain electrical activity.
The system was designed primarily for applications in emergency medicine, intensive care units (ICUs), emergency departments, and other situations requiring rapid initiation of EEG monitoring.
BrainStatus enables measurements to be taken both in the hospital and in the field.

Bittium BrainStatus™ – Wireless EEG System for Rapid Brain Activity Monitoring

Bittium BrainStatus™ is a compact, wireless EEG (Electroencephalography) system designed for real-time monitoring of brain electrical activity.
The system was designed primarily for applications in emergency medicine, intensive care units (ICUs), emergency departments, and other situations requiring rapid initiation of EEG monitoring.
BrainStatus enables measurements to be taken both in the hospital and in the field.
The system consists of a compact EEG amplifier, a disposable BrainStatus electrode set, and dedicated software.
A distinctive feature of the solution is a single-piece, flexible EEG electrode headband, designed for rapid and consistent electrode placement.
The electrodes are placed primarily on the hairless area of the head, simplifying patient preparation for the examination.
The headband's design allows for electrode application without the need to lift or move the patient's head. The solution reduces the time-consuming process of placing individual electrodes typical of a traditional EEG examination.
The manufacturer states that system setup allows you to begin EEG recording in minutes.
The disposable electrode set reduces the need for cleaning and preparing the electrodes for subsequent use.
The electrodes are delivered in a hygienic, single package with instructions for use.
The compact amplifier is mounted directly on the patient, reducing the number of cables leading from the patient to the monitoring station.
EEG data can be wirelessly transmitted to a computer station for real-time brain activity monitoring.
The system also allows for local data storage on an SD card and subsequent analysis of the recordings.
Thanks to its wireless design, BrainStatus can be used for continuous patient monitoring without the need for a traditional, extensive bedside EEG station.
The dedicated software has also been designed for medical personnel who do not perform EEG routines.
At the same time, the software provides the features required by EEG technicians and neurophysiologists.
The system can also be used with standard EEG electrodes with the appropriate configuration. An optional jack box/adapter allows you to expand the system to 16 channels.
BrainStatus is CE Class IIa medically certified, according to the manufacturer's published information.

Software Required for Operation

The dedicated Bittium BrainStatus Software is used for standard system operation.
The software is responsible for receiving, displaying, recording, and viewing the EEG signal.
The interface was designed for use with touchscreens and panels.
The software also allows personnel who are not specialized EEG technicians to initiate monitoring.
It also provides functions designed for EEG technicians and neurophysiologists.
The software allows for the selection of various EEG montages.
EEG signal filtering functions are available.
Comments and annotations can be added to the recorded examination.
It is possible to review previously recorded EEG during the recording process (split-screen functionality).
EEG data is saved locally.
The recording can be shared via a network file server, allowing the examination to be reviewed at another EEG station within the hospital.
The manufacturer's materials also describe the optional use of a cloud environment. Older official Bittium documentation lists Windows 10 as the platform for BrainStatus Software.
The current product page does not list the Windows version or current minimum hardware requirements, so before specifying Windows 10 as the current system requirement, you should confirm your current configuration directly with Bittium.

Optional Analysis Software – Cerenion C-Trend™

BrainStatus can be used with a solution that includes the Cerenion C-Trend analysis system.
C-Trend is used for the quantitative analysis and presentation of changes in brain activity based on EEG signals.
The solution is designed to help intensive care personnel track changes in patient brain activity.
Bittium materials list the C-Trend Index, aEEG, Alpha-Delta Ratio, and Burst Suppression Ratio, among others.
Cerenion C-Trend is not the primary software required for EEG recording with BrainStatus; it is an additional analysis solution.
