The Rev8 family includes the OSDome, OS0, OS1, and OS1 Max models, which differ in range, field of view, and number of channels.

Rev8 sensors deliver a native RGB-D point cloud, combining 3D depth data with color without the need for an external camera. Thanks to high resolution, a large number of points per second, a wide operating range, and a rugged design, the Rev8 series is suitable for both mobile and stationary applications.

Technical Information

The Ouster Rev8 series has been designed as a family of high-performance 3D LiDAR sensors with native color. Depending on the selected variant, users can choose a sensor for short-range applications, wide field-of-view use cases, hemispherical applications, or long-range operation.

Each Rev8 sensor generates 3D data in the form of a point cloud with information such as RGB, range, signal, reflectivity, near-infrared, channel, azimuth angle, and timestamp. The devices communicate via UDP over Gigabit Ethernet / 1000BASE-T, support time synchronization, feature a built-in IMU, and include diagnostic functions such as sensor window blockage detection.

The Rev8 series is designed to operate in harsh environmental conditions. The sensors offer an operating temperature range from -40°C to +85°C, shock resistance up to 100 g, vibration resistance of 10 G-rms, and an IP68 / IP69K ingress protection rating when the I/O cable is connected. The manufacturer also declares design considerations for functional safety and cybersecurity, including references to ASIL-B, SIL-2, PLd, and ISO 21434.
