StretchSense XR Reality Glove

The StretchSense XR Reality Glove is a pair of wireless gloves designed to precisely track finger movements and hand gestures in VR and XR environments. Each glove utilizes 32 flexible sensors and a machine learning system that maps finger bending, splay, and wrist orientation.

The solution can be used in VR applications, training simulations, animation, motion capture, robotics, scientific research, and human-computer interaction projects. However, this model does not have built-in full spatial hand tracking—full 6DoF tracking requires an additional wrist tracker or a separate Spatial Tracking kit.

Required Software and Integrations

VR and SteamVR Use

To use the gloves as gesture controllers, you need:
a PC with Bluetooth,
the StretchSense XR Game app or the appropriate version of XR Train,
SteamVR for applications running in the OpenVR environment,
a compatible VR app or game,
a VR headset connected to your computer,
external trackers if the application requires hand position tracking.

The XR Game app emulates Valve Index controllers, allowing you to assign specific gestures to controller buttons. The manufacturer provides stable and beta versions; the download documentation warns that some beta versions may crash after extended use. For training and demonstration purposes, use the version marked as stable and test the entire configuration beforehand.

OpenXR

The gloves can work with applications using OpenXR, including hand animation and interaction mechanisms such as grasp or poke. The official documentation covers OpenXR configuration for Unity, Unreal Engine, SteamVR, HTC Vive Hub, and Meta Quest Link.

Meta Quest

For the Meta Quest headset, the manufacturer's documentation describes the use of:

Meta Quest Link,

wireless PCVR streaming via Virtual Desktop,

OpenXR environment running on a computer.

The gloves should not be assumed to function as a standalone native Quest accessory without a computer. The public documentation primarily describes the PCVR scenario, i.e., an application running on a computer and transmitted to the headset.

Creating Custom Applications

StretchSense provides integrations and tools for:

Unity
Unreal Engine
OpenXR
SteamVR
StretchSense SDK
custom applications
data transmission via REST API
real-time transmission via WebSocket
projects using pose, gesture, and contact data.

API stands for Application Programming Interface, which is a programming interface that allows data to be transmitted from the gloves to your own program. SDK stands for Software Development Kit—a set of libraries and tools for developers.

Creative Software

The manufacturer lists applications related to animation, motion capture, VMC, and social VR environments. For Blender, VRChat, Resonite, or VTuber tools, integration may depend on StreamVR, VMC, additional plugins, and tracker configurations. Compatibility with a specific version of the program should be confirmed before purchase.
