Shimmer Development Kits are a family of research and development kits based on the Shimmer3/Shimmer3R wireless sensor platform. The kits enable the recording of movement data, biomechanical data, and physiological signals such as ECG, EMG, GSR/EDA, PPG, bioimpedance, and parameters derived from force sensors and strain gauges.
Shimmer Development Kits – Development Kits for Biomechanical and Physiological Measurements
The Shimmer platform is designed for scientific research, prototyping, movement analysis, biomechanics, sports, rehabilitation, psychophysiological studies, and integration of sensors into custom applications and research systems.
Depending on the kit selected, data can be transmitted wirelessly via Bluetooth in real time or stored locally in the device's memory. Multi-sensor kits enable the synchronization of multiple Shimmer devices during a single experiment.

Available Models
Consensys Bundle Development Kit
A complete kit enabling the use of various Shimmer sensor types within a single platform. It allows for measurements including IMU, ECG, EMG, GSR/EDA, PPG, and Bridge Amplifier+.
Consensys GSR Development Kit
This kit is designed to measure galvanic skin response (GSR), electrodermal activity (EDA), and photoplethysmography (PPG). It also allows for determining parameters related to heart rate and heart rate variability, while simultaneously recording movement data.
Consensys EMG Development Kit
This kit allows for recording two channels of surface electromyography (EMG) and movement activity. The unit can also be used for ECG measurements, but a single sensor cannot measure ECG and EMG simultaneously.
Consensys ECG Development Kit
This kit is designed to record four channels of ECG. It also allows for surface EMG measurements and recording data from inertial sensors. ECG and EMG cannot be recorded simultaneously by a single unit.
Consensys IMU Development Kit
A motion research kit equipped with 9 DoF inertial sensors and an altimeter. It records data from an accelerometer, gyroscope, and magnetometer and enables 3D spatial orientation determination.
Shimmer3R EBio Consensys Development Kit
A kit designed for measuring bioimpedance and ECG. It can be used, among other things, to monitor respiratory parameters, including changes related to breathing, and simultaneously record 9 DoF motion data.
Consensys 200g IMU Development Kit
An IMU version designed for measuring very high accelerations – up to 200 g. In addition to measuring high g-forces, it retains the functionality of the Shimmer3R inertial platform.
Consensys Bridge Amplifier+ Development Kit
A kit enabling the connection of strain gauges, load cells, and resistive sensors. It allows you to measure force, pressure, mass, torque, pressure, and resistance, among other things, and combine these measurements with movement data.
NeuroLynQ Kits
A multi-sensor solution utilizing GSR and ECG measurements to study the psychophysiological responses of individuals and groups. Available configurations include 6-, 10-, and 15-sensor configurations with a NeuroLynQ software license.
Software
Several software environments are available for operating the Shimmer platform.
ConsensysBASIC
Free software available to Shimmer device users
Basic sensor configuration and management
Local data storage support
Communication support with Shimmer devices
ConsensysPRO
Extended environment for conducting experiments and managing sensors
Real-time data transfer via Bluetooth
Live signal visualization
Configuration and management of multiple devices
Sensor synchronization
Downloading and processing of locally stored data
Support for selected signal processing algorithms, including ECG and PPG
Windows-based software
ConsensysPRO is licensed separately in most kits; Some kits may include a license.
For users creating their own solutions, the manufacturer also provides:
ShimmerCapture / Shimmer C# API
Shimmer Java/Android API
Shimmer Swift API for macOS and iOS
