Movesense Sport is a family of compact, programmable sensors designed to measure physiological activity and movement during sports, training, research, and everyday activities. The platform enables simultaneous acquisition of heart rate, R-R intervals, single-channel ECG, and movement data measured by a 9-axis IMU.

Movesense Sport is a family of compact, programmable sensors designed to measure physiological activity and movement during sports, training, research, and everyday activities. The platform enables simultaneous acquisition of heart rate, R-R intervals, single-channel ECG, and movement data measured by a 9-axis IMU.

Movesense sensors can operate as off-the-shelf measurement devices communicating wirelessly via Bluetooth Low Energy or as a platform for developing custom wearable devices, research applications, and OEM solutions.

An open API and free development tools provide access to raw sensor data and enable the development of custom firmware, mobile apps, and desktop software. Data can be processed locally in the sensor, transmitted in real time, or—depending on the model—stored in the device's memory.

Movesense sensors are designed, tested, and manufactured in Finland. The platform was originally developed by Suunto.

Software and Requirements

Dedicated Movesense software is not required for basic heart rate measurement. The HR2 and HR+ sensors use the standard Bluetooth Heart Rate Service profile and can be paired with compatible sports watches, mobile apps, and other devices that support the standard Bluetooth HR profile.

Free Movesense tools are available for using advanced sensor features, such as accessing raw ECG and IMU data, logging data, and creating custom apps.

Choosing a Model

Movesense HR2 – the best choice for basic heart rate, HRV, ECG, and movement monitoring, as well as a cost-effective platform for creating your own solutions.

Movesense HR+ – recommended when, in addition to the HR2's functionality, temperature measurement is required or the ability to use additional components via a 1-Wire interface is required.

Movesense Flash – designed for applications requiring long-term, autonomous ECG and movement recording without a constant connection to a smartphone or computer.

Important Information

Movesense Sport is a family of sensors designed for sports, wellness, research, and development applications. ECG measurement in Movesense Sport models is non-medical.

For clinical and medical applications, the manufacturer offers a separate Movesense MD sensor, certified as a Class IIa medical device according to MDR 2017/745.
