ENGO Eyewear – Smart Sports Glasses with a Heads-Up Display

ENGO are smart sports glasses designed primarily for runners, cyclists, and endurance athletes.
The glasses utilize ActiveLook Light AR technology and a built-in HUD (Head-Up Display) that presents training data directly in the user's field of view.
Pace, speed, distance, heart rate, heart rate zone, power, cadence, lap time, elevation gain, and running dynamics parameters can be displayed.

Information is retrieved from a compatible sports watch, cycling computer, smartphone, or compatible sensors.
ENGO is not a standalone watch or universal AR glasses. It does not have its own GPS, camera, or video recording function. Its primary purpose is to present sports data.
The MicroOLED display generates an image seemingly several meters in front of the user, so viewing data does not require looking at the watch or computer. Changing data screens is done without touching the phone: with a hand gesture on the ENGO 2 or a double tap on the earpiece on the ENGO 3.

Currently Available Models

ENGO 2 – an older, lighter, and more affordable model with a monochrome display and hand gesture control.
ENGO 2 Solar – a version with a tinted, mirrored Deep Blue Mirror lens, intended primarily for use in bright light.
ENGO 2 Photochromic – a version with a category 1-3 photochromic lens that adjusts the tint to suit lighting conditions.
ENGO 2 Vive Limited Edition – a limited edition version with high-contrast lenses.
ENGO 2 is available in Standard and Large sizes and in Black, White, and Stealth styles, depending on the product version selected.
ENGO 3 – a newer model with a multicolor display, expanded screen customization, longer battery life, and support for structured training in the Garmin environment. ENGO 3 Tinted – version with category 3 tinted lenses and a mirror finish; available in Deep, Dawn, Stride, and Kenya colors. ENGO 3 Photochromic – version with category 1-2 auto-tinting photochromic lenses; available in Shadow and Aurora versions on the manufacturer's website.

ENGO 2 Specifications

ENGO 3 – Apple Watch:
The manufacturer states that the connection is still managed through the ActiveLook app.
The ActiveLook app must be installed and up-to-date on your iPhone.

The Apple Watch version is installed along with the iOS app. A smartphone is primarily needed for configuration, software updates, screen settings, and device connection. During activity, data can be transferred directly from a compatible watch or computer to the glasses.

Device Compatibility and Limitations

The widest and most extensive integration is available with Garmin.
The manufacturer confirms support for most newer Garmin devices, including selected Forerunner, Fenix, Epix, Enduro, Edge, and MARQ models.
Apple Watch Series 4 and newer are supported, but the configuration method and range of features differ from Garmin.
Suunto only offers partial compatibility.
Coros and Polar watches are not currently officially supported.
Before purchasing, please check the specific watch or computer model on the current compatibility list, as simply owning a device from a given brand does not guarantee support for all features.

Advantages

Sports data is available directly in your field of view, without the need to regularly glance at your wrist or computer.
Very lightweight, similar to classic sports glasses.
Long battery life – up to 12 hours in ENGO 2 and approximately 20 hours in ENGO 3.
Over 40 training parameters can be displayed. ENGO 3 offers extensive screen customization and displays up to six data points simultaneously.
Color-coded zones on ENGO 3 allow you to quickly assess whether you're within your target pace, power, or heart rate range.
Control without using your phone or pausing your activity.
Photochromic lenses are available for workouts in variable lighting conditions.
ENGO 3 is IP55 rated.
The lack of a camera and video recording reduces privacy risks common to some other smart glasses.
The lack of a built-in GPS and camera reduces weight and power consumption.

Disadvantages and Limitations

The glasses are not a standalone training device – full use requires a compatible watch, computer, phone, or sensors.
They do not offer classic smartglass features such as a camera, recording, phone calls, music, advanced notifications, or full augmented reality.
The lack of built-in GPS means the glasses do not record your route independently.
Compatibility with Coros and Polar is not available, and support for Suunto is limited.
Integration and available features vary between Garmin and Apple Watch. Garmin has confirmed full support for personalized displays and ENGO 3 structured workouts.
Depending on the model and platform, different apps, data fields, and setup procedures are required.
The ENGO 2 has a monochrome screen, shorter battery life, basic personalization, and does not support ENGO 3 structured workouts.
The display is designed for the right eye, which may be problematic for people with significantly impaired vision in that eye. The glasses do not have integrated corrective lenses. The manufacturer indicates that contact lenses may be necessary for vision impairments other than near vision problems.
The IP55 rating on the ENGO 3 does not guarantee waterproofness during immersion, swimming, or water sports.
Not all features are available on every platform, so it is necessary to verify the specific watch and intended use before purchasing.

Polish Language Support

ActiveLook Sport Eyewear for iOS supports Polish. The App Store lists Polish among the officially available language versions of the app.
ActiveLook is used by ENGO 2 and ENGO 3, which works with the Apple Watch.
The ENGO Companion / "engo: AR Glasses" app for ENGO 3 currently does not have confirmed Polish language support.
The App Store lists the ENGO app in English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish.
The official Google Play listing for the ENGO app does not include Polish or a full list of supported languages. There is no official confirmation of Polish parameter descriptions on the HUD itself, a Polish user manual, or Polish-language technical support. In practice, Polish language support is partial:
ENGO 2 with the ActiveLook app for iOS – Polish language available,
ENGO 3 with Apple Watch and ActiveLook – Polish language available in the ActiveLook app,
ENGO 3 with Garmin and the ENGO Companion app – Polish language not on the confirmed list. Online documentation and ENGO 3 configuration may require knowledge of English.
