What’s worth knowing about AI glasses

AI glasses differ in price, features, and the capabilities they offer.

Different models of AI glasses have different functions:
- Some have microphones + speakers — in this case, voice is the primary method of communication.
- Others can connect to a smartphone, allowing part of the interaction to happen through an app — so you can use text instead of voice.

Ways to communicate with AI in smart glasses

Voice control (most common)
The microphone picks up your speech, and the AI responds through the speakers or a display.

Text input
Some glasses allow you to type a question (e.g., using a mobile app) instead of speaking.

Gestures / touch / manual controls
For example, touch controls on the temple or gesture-based commands instead of voice commands.

Ring controller
Some models allow you to control the glasses’ menu using a ring worn on your finger — e.g., selecting music or calling a friend.

Teleprompt
Teleprompt is a feature that displays text in front of your eyes like a classic TV teleprompter — but in miniature form, without needing to look at a screen.

Camera

AI glasses can also be divided into:
glasses with a camera placed in the front of the frame (nose area or sides), and camera-free glasses — "incognito".

The camera in AI glasses allows them to see the world and carry out instructions (not in all models).

What the camera enables:

Video recording and taking photos
You can record first-person videos (“what your eyes see”).
Perfect for sports, travel, vlogging, documenting work.
Hands-free photo taking.

Object and scene recognition (computer vision)
The AI can:
recognize objects (e.g., “this is a Lenovo laptop”, “this is a stop sign”),
detect text, people, animals, products,
interpret the context of a scene (e.g., “I’m standing in front of a store shelf”).

Real-time text translation
The camera enables:
translation of signs, menus, announcements,
translation of printed text and reading it aloud,
automatic language detection.

Navigation and visual guidance
Some glasses can:
analyze the surroundings,
display navigation prompts or contextual tips,
provide information about nearby places.

An AI assistant that sees what you see
In selected models:
The assistant can answer questions based on the camera view,
e.g., “What monument is this?”, “What vegetable is this?”, “What does the label say?”

Teleprompt (additional details)

Teleprompt allows you to:
- read text discreetly while keeping eye contact with a person or camera,
- speak smoothly when recording videos, presentations, or live streams,
- play back pre-written scripts (e.g., speeches, TikToks, Reels, online courses),
- follow notes or instructions hands-free.

How it works
Depending on the AI glasses model:
Text is sent to the glasses via an app (e.g., on your phone).
The glasses display it in a HUD (mini display) or as a lens overlay.
The text scrolls like on a real teleprompter — with adjustable:
- scrolling speed,
- font size,
- language,
- display format.

Some advanced glasses allow you to control the teleprompter using:
- voice,
- temple gestures,
- touch,
- mobile app.

IMPORTANT NOTES
⚠️ Not all AI glasses have a teleprompter.
It is usually available in:
- glasses with AR displays,
- models designed for content creators,
- more advanced HUD-based devices.

⚠️ The most advanced models (full AI assistant, translation, camera, smart features) may have limitations depending on license, app availability, or regional support.

⚠️ Always check compatibility with your phone and operating system, and whether the manufacturer provides updates — otherwise the glasses may become unusable after software changes.

⚠️ Not all models include free AI access (e.g., ChatGPT).Some manufacturers use paid subscriptions for their AI (e.g., a limited free tier, with higher tiers paid).

⚠️ Glasses are often paired with a smartphone to access the Internet and the apps that control them.
